13 and 14 when the Marion Central Trades Council will sponsor Golden Gloves Tournament, it was announced today by Alvin Barrett, chairman of the committee in charge. Only professional fighters are barred from entering the tournament and the minimum age limit is 16 years. Youths of Marion towns of Grant county, Alexandria and Anderson will enter the tourney here and winners in the rarious weight classes will go to the district meet at Kokomo. Winners of the Kokomo meet will rot to Chicago. In past years several youths PURDUE'S TRACK SQUAD TO FACE STIFF SCHEDULE LAFAYETTE, Jan.

Five meets, plus competition in the various relays and Big Ten, state and national championships, will comprise. the schedule for Purdue's track squad, it was; announced today by Director of Athletics Noble E. Kizer. While Coach Orval Martin is harboring no title hopes, he retains' a neat group of veterans and prospects are bright for well balanced combination that is expected to fare well in dual competition and make a strong bid for first division honors in the Big Ten title meets. Among the veterans who will form the nucleus of the squad during the indoor season are Capt.

Popejoy, the mile run; Hollis and Swezey in the dashes, Sandbach in the hurdles, Crossman in the half-mile, Carter and Jones in the pole vault, and Jones in the high jump. The complete track schedule follows: 17-Purdue at Chicago. Feb. 28 Purdue at Butler. March 10-Big Ten indoor meet at Chicago.

VAN BUREN TO HOLD TOURNEY VAN BUREN, Jan. 30-The youngsters of basketball, seventh and eighth' grade teams, Feb. 10 will have a chance to test their first strength at an invitational tournament to be held at Van Buren. Clyde Miller, Van Buren coach, and Charles Lawshe, school teacher, are sponsoring the tourney and announced that trophy would be awarded the winning team and 10 medals would go to its members.

Teams are to certify 10 players and are allowed to use all of them. One of the features of the tourney will be an exhibition game by two high ranking, teams in the Marion Y. M. Industrial League. The Owens-Illinois Glass of Gas City will meet the Marion Radio quintet in the preliminary to the final tournament game Saturday night.

Six teams have entered the tournament. They are Matthews, Upland, Fairmount, Gas City, Swayzee and Van Buren. If Grant county teams cannot be secured for the two remaining positions, quintets will be invited from nearby counties. The club, organization of former Van Buren high school athletes, will have charge of a checking room. Admission to the morning and afternoon sessions will be 10 cents and tickets for the night games will be 15 cents.
