Maybe if the car was 1000 lbs lighter it would be pretty cool. Like it is it just sounds stupid.

I'm going to have to agree. I'm a Ford guy and even I think this is.. how do you say.. Retarded?
They need to make some drastic changes to the body/weight to get away with a 4cyl Turbo. Maybe they should make it really small like a hatchback and instead of calling it a mustang they could call it like.. a focus or something.

I remember driving the old '86 Mustang SVO (another 4 cylinder turbo), a great car. Front mid-engine layout. Good balance, decent power, just enough body and interior variations to be different. But I'm sure that car was a lot lighter than the latest platform.
Sports cars have lost their purity. New cars just have too much crap in them, they are rolling gizmos. We need something like a Lotus Elise that tall people (like me) can fit in. All I need is A/C, power locks, radio and a CLUTCH!

the fox body mustangs were about 400 pounds lighter than the current gt. a v6 turbo may work, but not a 4 cyl.

They are trying to get better fuel mpg out of the car. The 2.0l EB is available in other vehicles like the new Explorer which is close to the 5k lb mark. The 2.0l EB will do fine in the Mustang as far as power is concerned. The turbos allow the 2.0l EB to make its peak torque from 1750-4000 rpm. The 2.0l EB still puts out more hp and tq than the 4.0l SOHC in the previous gen mustang. I do not think the mpg is going to outstanding compared to the current 3.7l V6 offering in the mustang. The 2.0l EB and the 3.5l NA V6 have about the same mpg in the Explorer and I suspect it will not be much different in the Mustang. I'll take the 5.0l please.

That kinda falls under the same thing as why would you buy a sports car with the V6 instead of opting for the V8.
People want to be able to say they drive a muscle car but don't care about the performance. It's an image thing for most of America.

Engines have some along way since the SVO turbo 4 in the Fox body. Hell my 4 cylinder turbo makes more power than all of the fox body V8's did...:lmao:

Id rather see the ECOBOOST V6 that they use in the trucks under the hood if they wanted to go that route.
A 250hp 4CYL Mustang is retarded. The current NA 6'er gets like 30mpg and has 305hp, I realy dont see the need to change the base model format.
But, they say boosted small displacement engines are going to replace everything. Maybe for '20 theyll throw in a 2-3cyl.

True but have you seen a domestic car company build a turbo 4cyl worth the paper its drawn on? (and before anyone says Cobalt Ill just say its still a Cavalier )
Sorry but a 4cyl Mustang is like buying a 6cyl Charger ........ nothing I hate more then seeing a nice muscle car then noticeing the 205.60.16 and a single exhaust tip.
