The afternoon sessions began with a presentation by Clifton J. Porter II, Incoming President and Chief Executive Officer of AHCA/NCAL. He provided his insights on several important legislative topics in his talk, "A View From Washington DC." He evaluated the impact of the latest legislation and governmental changes on long-term care and advised on creating opportunities and expanding existing business models as changes unfold.Summit attendees then heard a short review of "FTC Perspectives on PBMs" from Samantha Brown, Partner, and Alexa DuMity, Attorney from The Phoenix Law Group PLC. They provided a valuable breakdown of the Interim Report of the FTC's study on PBMs.Matt Lewis, SPS Health Chief Commercial Officer, followed with a guided discussion with William Sarraille, Regulatory Consultant and Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, on "Navigating the Known-and-Unknowns of the IRA Impact on LTC Pharmacies." Following an insightful conversation, it became evident that the implications of the IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) and Select Drug Negotiation (MFP) are crucial for LTC pharmacies to understand.
